READ: Ronie Dayan Made As ‘Star Witness’ On Congress Investigation On Illegal Drugs On New Bilibid Prison


Star Witness – Ronnie Dayan, the controversial driver that’s been linked to Senator Leila De Lima in a romantic manner has been made as the ‘star witness’ by for the congressional investigation to be done for the alleged illegal drugs trade in the National Bilibid Prison (NBP).

In a report by Manila Bulletin, former Chief Justice and now Senator De Lima will be invited by to attend the hearing that will be held in the third week of September, as said by Mindoro Oriental Rep. Reynaldo Umali, chairman of the House Committee on Justice.

Umali, as the report said that he will be sending De Lima an invitation that she will be accepting as according to him, the Lower House will observe parliamentary courtesy.

The report added that the Dayan, being in the congressional investigation is important in knowing the truth behind the alleged illegal trade activities in the NBP wherein De Lima is being accused during her post as the Department of Justice (DOJ) secretary.

According to Umali, Dayan will be ordered a warrant if he fails to attend the said invitation by the Congress.

“He would be principal to this investigation, therefore, it is imperative that he will be subpoenaed. I mean he will be invited first. Then eventually subpoenaed,” Umali said as quoted.

The report added that the DOJ witnesses have already identified and claimed that there is a real connection between Dayan and the alleged drug traffickers in the illegal trade.

The investigation will be headed Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez, Majority Leader Rodolfo Fariñas and Minority Leader Danilo Suarez and together with a group of Representatives.

It is also been said that some congressional hearings may be scheduled at the NBP compound as Umali said that some convicts will be summoned to have a personal appearance at the Batasang Pambansa compound might be a security threat.
