President Rodrigo Duterte on Saturday fresh from his trips in Indonesia said he wanted to install closed circuit television (CCTV) cameras to all government agencies to closely monitor public servants.
Duterte said that having a CCTV camera in respective offices will help to deter corruption and he sees nothing wrong with it.
“I will place cameras there, like a Gestapo. And it’s perfectly alright for me. Why? This is government. This is not a private enterprise. There is no such thing as a violation of privacy there,” he said in a speech at the Davao City International Airport.
He also said that when it comes to government, everything should be open for transparency.
“Kung sa gobyerno ka, it must be open,” he said.
Duterte promised a clean government under his term and to get rid of the corruption in the country.
